Chicago native KELSEY LACOUR began her professional music career at the age of eleven, under the guidance of Drew Lecher. LaCour continued her musical and pedagogical studies under Sherban Lupu, Masumi Per Rostad, Dimitri Murrath, and the Grammy-winning Pacifica String Quartet. While at conservatory, LaCour garnered multiple competition wins and scholarships. To date, she is the only student in UIUC School of Music history to win three separate, full-ride scholarships in her first four semesters of study.
Professionally, LaCour has performed as a violinist, violist, and vocalist with classical, gospel, renaissance, and rap/hip-hop ensembles throughout the United States and Europe. Notable appearances include HOPERA: A Hip-Hop Opera; the Symphonies of Chicago, Baltimore, and Brno; The Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra; The International African Methodist Episcopal Delegation Band; Black Violin; and KanYe West.
She currently is the Founder and Musical Director of the Wye Oak Chamber Players, and will solo with the ensemble in their November performance of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."
A passionate teacher, LaCour has taught hundreds of students in her twenty-five-year career. Mrs. LaCour particularly enjoys coaching chamber music, and is the Founder and Director of the Chamber @ Program Series, (formerly, "Social-Distancing String Quartets"). Chamber @ offers a positive, personalized chamber music experience for all ages and skill levels.
A wife and mother of four young children, LaCour spends her leisure time (ha!) working on their new homestead, baking, and volunteering in her community.
